Bandra is the place where you find the most affordable tag less yet trendy clothes at the most affordable price. May it be an everyday white cotton teeshirt, to linen tourers or party dresses. For the frugal ones who don’t want to spend a bomb prefer the Bandra street wear for everyday wear. Living in a city like Mumbai, where you travel in a local train and spot a Michael Kors. Suddenly you wonder how can a local train traveller afford a Kors and dare to step in the super crowded train? If they have money for luxury brands then why don’t they choose to travel in their own car?
I met my friend yesterday and accompanied her to Bandra Water-Field road to pick up some affordable cheap but chic items. While I was spotting some hideous shoes and dresses imported from Bangkok brothels I suppose, I saw the most excruciating, stabbing, more than blood can bear items… The Fakes.
Wandering for good accessories, you spot bags from Louis Vuitton, to Roberto Cavalli to Carolina Herrera,Yves Saint Laurent, Prada, Burberry, Fendi, Hermes, Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, Dior and also the one which everyone is wearing and is famously known as “MK” popularly; Michael Kors. In the croma mall at Water-Field road opposite KFC, there are plenty of stores where they sell the fakes and women purchase them at the price of 3,000rs. So much dedication for fakes! I was traumatised. Horrified. Scandalised. Birkin’s and Vuitton signature bags were imitated or their logo’s were pinned to some dreadful, ugly bags. One thing I realised that women buy the fakes to showcase their status quo. How is buying a fake improvise their status any different from the fake bag? To humiliate ones perception on the 1st floor you spot a store name DIOR in the Walt Disney font where they sell the replica of the luxury top brands. I felt that I lost fate over humanity. Then you see the Louis Vuitton design and a Michael Kors tag.
I’ve spent my Teenage years being firm on the tough that I WONT WEAR OR PURCHASE FAKES and here there are women going gaga over forged pieces. Decided that I will save money once I start earning and then buy an original and to mortify my innocence I visit Bandra. Disgusted since the time I stepped into the stores.
Lets take a step and spread the word. Lets educate women who think they are fashionable and buy fakes. Lets inform them that its unethical and how it’s violating the brand. Lets spread the word and make the world a stylish place without any fake tags!
